Confidence, 11x14, oil on boardI suppose geese are just born with confidence. Sometimes I wish I could be that way. This is another scene that jumped at me while driving down the road. His (or her?) mate was just to the right, highlighted by that thin bright spring sunlight. That gesture, that way of walking that looks like he's king of the world, that beautiful rimlight........that's what was memorable and worth stopping the car for. I painted this on an Ampersand brand board. I often like different surfaces for painting and the different looks that come from a variety of surfaces. I laid in the structure and colors, finding the strokes staying exactly as they came off the brush. When I returned to the painting the second layers went on nicely. I will have to give this bird an eye. p/s did you know they mate for life? Click on the image to see more texture.
