A Break in the Weather

Feel that change in the seasons? Now we can relax on the "Back Porch".

This is one of ten paintings I'll have available in Vignettes party at the Huntsville Museum of ARt on Thursday, September 22 at 6:30. Tickets are available online and include music, full bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres. This will conclude the Sense of Place exhibit of Plein Air paintings by the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast. It gives an idea of the procedure some outdoor painters use for developing a larger painting in the studio from the study done on location..

Incredible warmth and light in this, I imagine it will be lovely in the museum display.

Love this painting, Robin. It is so warm and inviting and intimate, and so perfectly captures those last moments in the sun.

Painting Your Vision Workshop No matter what level is current in your oil painting, its time to step up to the next level. This workshop is designed to add interest in texture and design, emphasize brushwork and edges, and explore new additions to paint techniques. We do this by using traditional methods of direct or alla prima painting, which simply means all we can accomplish in a session using rich paint to make sophisticated edges. We will explore different surfaces that affect the look of an oil painting. And we will use a simple color mixing exercise to give confidence in value and mixing the color you need. Bring your references or use my photos. Demonstrations will give suggestions to add something new to your oil paintings and painting time to bring it all together.
