N 2 HAY

N 2 HAY
12x24 oil
Aren't I clever with that title? I'm having difficulty with my camera - getting orange and blue to reproduce in the same picture. At least I'd like to blame the camera! This is the almost finished version of the horses "one with the hay". I'll tweak the values - adjusting the push and pull that will make it ring true.

HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT

I enjoy hiding surprises in a painting, as in "Early Spring" featuring a bunny statue beside a garden bench.
This is the scene that caught my eye while driving down the highway. It's horses eating from a long hay bale......so of course, I put my camera out the car window and snapped......
Here is the start of the 12x24 painting

The horses seem to be "one with the hay".

Stay tuned to see if I can pull it off...............

THE WHOLE SHEBANG

Warning - lots of photos of the progress of a recent painting!. It's all about the tails, as you will see in the end. And the moment - the moment of anticipation at the start of a foxhunt, which I hope transfers to the moment of anticipation of the start of the painting. When that first brushstoke hits the canvas.................

The last part to be finished was the head of the horse. Finished. thanks for hanging in there..........

RIPPLES IN THE WATER

At the easel, I thought this one was finished - even signed it. When I brought it to another room for viewing I see many things that need "fixin'" - do you?

White Horses

Here is progress on two paintings - same size. I saw these horses at different places and different times - they just share "shade" in common.

The next one:

Both are 8x10, unframed, oil on linen panels.

Something Different

Almost finished version of white hydrangeas. 18x24.
Fresh - that's what I was thinking when I decided to paint flowers instead of my usual landscape emphasis. I didn't take a photo of the finished painting before I placed it for you to see at Hampton Court in Interiors Marketplace. There are leaves and stems shining in the light after this stage - go see and tell me what you think.
