NEEDS A TITLE

30X30 oil on linen, framed
Please - Help me with a title! This is springtime, no bright sun, just overcast skies and huge trees in a lush spring pasture. If I were a cow, I'd be happy to live in this pasture. Two of these 30x30 paintings have been back and forth on my easel lately. The other is the horses painting on a previous posting. They will likely go to Dragonfly Gallery in Fayetteville Tn, unless you let me know before May 3. You're invited to the art party at Dragonfly gallery on Main Street on the Square in Fayetteville Tn on Friday, May 8th 4 to 8pm.
Here are some detail photos you can click for close up:

CONFIDENCE

Confidence, 11x14, oil on board
I suppose geese are just born with confidence. Sometimes I wish I could be that way. This is another scene that jumped at me while driving down the road. His (or her?) mate was just to the right, highlighted by that thin bright spring sunlight. That gesture, that way of walking that looks like he's king of the world, that beautiful rimlight........that's what was memorable and worth stopping the car for. I painted this on an Ampersand brand board. I often like different surfaces for painting and the different looks that come from a variety of surfaces. I laid in the structure and colors, finding the strokes staying exactly as they came off the brush. When I returned to the painting the second layers went on nicely. I will have to give this bird an eye. p/s did you know they mate for life? Click on the image to see more texture.

LILACS FROM THE GARDEN

lilacs, 12x9 oil on canvas, $300 unframed
Well, the garden part is a joke. Hubby picked these lilacs this morning in our yard and brought them to my studio (converted bedroom). The only 2 blooms in the 10 years we've had the shrub. I'm so weary of computer work for the last 2 weeks that I painted them as a warm up to return to my regular list of paintings. I wish you could smell them too. The glass was more interesting than the flowers somehow. O how wonderful to smear paint around......

SPRINGTIME FOG

SPRINGTIME FOG/ AN EXCITING AWARD

Wisteria in Fog, 12x16, oil on linen panel $475 unframed
Have you had as much rain as we? It made for a steamy foggy Saturday morning. It started with a sunny fog, and the land was magical with the morning sun trying to beam through. I wonder if that's what a passage to heaven looks like? I found a painting every mile. This just happens to be down the road from my house, and the wisteria is especially abundant this year. I had to wait until Monday to paint it as the demo for a class. It was such fun. I get such inspiration from being around other artists.
Another wonderful experience is the "A PASSION FOR PAINTING" blog award.

Gee golly wow. This was awarded by the wonderful artist Kathleen Harrington whose artwork and blog you'll enjoy. Kathleen just bubbles with passion. The award asks to name 7 other artists whose work is inspiring, and to name 7 things I love.........

So here are 7 artists in no particular order that I'd like to pass a PASSION award: (imagine a logo for the award here)
The first is Kim Ratigan who designed the logo for the original award. Here's where I confess my computer dumbness because I cannot figure how to cut and paste the award here in this posting. DUH. But if you like animals you will enjoy the verve Kim adds to her paintings. The next is passionate about horses, Sharon Crute - you can just feel the burst of energy off her canvases of horses. And there is no end to the things I've learned from LindaBlondheim about passion, although I imagine she has every painting award there is. You'll enjoy the freshness of her Florida scenes. I pass the next PASSION AWARD to "Blog Artists". They combine passion with fun. It's where I go when I want to smile. Then a young (to me!) artist with passion is Tracy Helgeson - so mysterious are her paintings that I willingly want to get lost in them. Someone else who inspires passion for me is Nancy Medina. Nancy's cheerfulness matches her paintings.

And the 7 things I love:

1. Les - the guy who makes it possibleand keeps me smiling.(also known as sugar smacky lips)
2. Trees, the land, air, water, fire, horses- just all of nature.
3. My sister and family, my wonderful friends. I would be nothing without them. 4. I love ( well, really enjoy) my little PT Cruiser. 5. the church where I am able to recieve the grace of God. 6. I love seeing good art and paintings - I'm a museum nut. 7. I love smearing paint around.
These are the guidelines:
1. Put the logo on your blog or post 2. Name 7 blogs 3. Be sure to list and link your nominees within your post 4. Let them know they have received this award by leaving a comment on their blog 5. Nominate your favorites and link to your post.
AND you've honored me just by reading this far and following. Here's a big hug to all of you........
