Let It Fly

A friend hiked Monte Sano mountain (Huntsville Al) recently with her camera and was generous to loan us the photo I used  for a class demo painting using palette knife.   Monte Sano has several trails with varied terrain, with rocks and thick trees  most prominent.
Did you know I have a monthly oil painting class?  We have it at Hobby Lobby in Decatur Al on the third Monday of the month 9:30 till?   So the painters requested a demonstration of palette knife effects, and her photo made excellent subject matter..     I love all those subtle colors of winter - I just don't enjoy it during this cold wet spell.!      It was also a lesson in starting a painting with energy - letting the paint fly and having fun discovering what the palette knife can do.   Then the class became reallllly quiet while they added finishing touches.   We had fun making some discoveries - some even painted 2!
