Outta da way....

I think I'm glad I'm not the one who took the photo for this.  I usually paint from my own references, but Gary Keming has given me a great way to practice animals I probably won't see in the wild.  Gary's WildernessArtChallenge (go there to see the photo) shows something from his outstanding collection of photos from Wyoming.  And check out his beautiful paintings, too. I don't know how Gary ever selects a subject to paint!     I'm just glad I didn't meet this bear this close.  Thanks Gary, for a fun way to pass an icy day.

Here is the progress - backwards:


the main repair here at the end was lengthening the legs, then softening the fur on the back - see if you can compare it to the finished version.

  1. You have painted this bear beautifully, I have the picture on my bulletin board but haven't tackled it yet.
